2 things I learned this week...
Don't be scared and don't be stupid
Don't Be Scared
I had seriously worked myself into a complete tailspin over the fact that I had to go back to Crossfit this week. I had a real live nightmare about it. What are they going to think? They're judging me. They're talking crap on me. I know they are. I've gained weight since I stopped going and they don't even want me back.
Katie, are you kidding? This is crazy.
Not kidding. I know, it's a little bit of a sickness how much I thought about this.
I text my CF friend. Her reply, "Are you kidding? That's the same mentality that stops really obese people from going to the gym. It's not about them. It's about you. Plus you know CF peeps are not like that!"
Turns out...she's right.
Turns out the Crossfit community is just as awesome as it was when I left.
Hug, good to have you back.
Where the hell have you been?
Good to see you?
How are you?
Turns out..they actually didn't huddle around one another, push me out of the circle, and talk crap on me.
So, I bring my lesson to you. Nobody cares if you have gained/lost weight. Nobody cares if you have a zit on your face. Nobody cares if you have a crappy haircut. Go out. Work out. Enjoy yourself.
People love you for who you are and are not completely consumed with what you look like. In fact, most people are as self absorbed as me (No they're not Katie) and too concerned about what YOU think of THEM than to think about what THEY think of YOU.
Don't Be Stupid
When you do actually go back to the gym after 4 months off you should know that you HAVE gotten weaker and you should NOT try and lift just as much weight as when you left.
Excuse me while I take 25 minutes to stand up because I can hardly move my legs.
Don't be scared and don't be stupid

I'm not Crossfitting right now.
I haven't walked into 480, since I walked out in early October.
My most recent ankle injury wasn't completely healed and, as usual, I didn't really listen, tried to do more than I should have and re-injured myself.
So...I went home.
I went home to heal.
To have a giant pity party.
To be sad about my dumb ligaments and tendons.
I went to physical therapy.
I got an MRI.
I was told I need surgery.
I'm still trying to get a 2nd opinion that tells me I don't.
And in the meantime...
I sit.
I told myself maybe my Crossfit ship had sailed.
Maybe I should find a new "thing."
I tried hot yoga.
I rode my bike a bit.
I walked a little.
But I just haven't felt IT.
The IT I feel when I look at the board and don't wanna do the workout...and then do it anyway.
The IT I feel when I walk in and leave everything I have on the gym floor.
The IT I feel when I PR something almost each time I'm in there.
The IT I feel when I get to add to my Crossfit Log on my phone
The IT I feel when I am more motivated to exercise than I've ever been in my life.
The IT I feel when I'm driving home, recapping the WOD and smiling to myself because I did it...again.
The IT I feel when I'm cheering people on...the same people who have cheered me on over and over again.
The IT I feel when I read other people's Facebook posts about Jackie and know exactly what they mean. The IT I feel when I'm laying on the ground, catching my breath, completely spent.
Yeah, I miss IT.
So, I'm starting to think...even modified Crossfit is probably better than no Crossfit.
Perhaps, I'll go ahead and walk back into that box.

I almost died the other day and I'm not exaggerating. Ok, I am exaggerating but it really was the most scared I have ever been in my life.
Before I go on let me tell you a few things...
1. I am not a wimp
Well that's the only thing I wanted to tell you. I'm not a wimp.
I'm not a wimp.
Okaaaay Kathryn (you call me Kathryn when you're annoyed with me) we get it. You're not a wimp. Why?
Because... I was a wimp.
Come along with me on a little journey called The Most Scared I Ever Was. That title needs work. Yeah I got it.

I saw a sign posted at 480 that said "Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course Sign-Up." I had really wanted to try it but was nervous...mostly because I get nervous around people I don't know well and worry that I'll have nothing to talk to them about. You? Katie. You talk to everyone...about everything...all the time. I know, peeps, but I get scared with new people.
I signed up...well LC signed me up when I mearly mentioned I was interested.
We get up there and start going through the training. We put our harnesses on. I looked lame. I'm not sure how but the other 4 girls made harnesses look cute.
The guy was going over the rules:
1. You always have to be clipped in with both clips, or at least 1.
2. Your clips have to face opposite directions.
3. The clips can be above you but never below you.
He said that if you break the rule 1 time, they would give you a warning. 2 times, they might kick you off. So we're going through the little training course. Guess who got TWO warnings on the Training Course...ME! That's who. Possible foreshadowing for events to come? I think so.
So, we finish that. They let me go on even though I was a bit of a slow learner. We climb up on the first course. I WAS SO SCARED. Now, logically, nothing can really happen because you're harnessed in but it was so freaky. Guess who else in my group was scared? NOBODY. That's who. I was with a bunch of girls and they were SO BA. I was not so BA. My A was super freaked out.
Only 35% of the people who start this course finish it. We were only on the very first part and I was terrified. We had to stand on these platforms and walk across a "bridge" and I put that word in quotes because it wasn't a freaking bridge. It was a wobbly, movey, you could fall at any moment thing you try to and balance on.
There was one point where you had to swing from a rope. Like Tarzan? YES, like Tarzan! And then you swung into a net and crawled on the net as if you were Spiderman. My friend looked like Spiderwoman. I. Did. Not.
The whole day went like this. One of the memorable obstacles was where you rode a skateboard across a very tiny cable...while a million feet in the air. Ok, it was 65 feet but who rides a skateboard in the air? Nobody, that's who.
We were about 3 "bridges" away from finished and on one of the last ones all there were was a bunch of rings tied to ropes. So you had to put your foot in 1 ring and swing and go into the next ring. I was about to quit and somehow my Whole 30 Partner in Crime yells, "You're almost there. Put your foot in the next one. You got it." Oh how I love her and the Crossfit 480 way...always encouraging and never going to let you quit.
So, obviously all the BAMFettes that I went up there with, who never once made a peep about being scared, finished. There was never any question. They were so awesome the whole time but guess who else finished...ME! So...let me recap...WE ALL FINISHED!
It was the scariest thing I've ever done.
We're all done and I'm trying to catch my breath and remember that I really was still alive and the girls say, "We should do this again. It was so fun."
"Hmm, I'll have to get back to you on that one. Once in my lifetime may be plenty."
Then, as if to cap off my wimpyness one of the girls who is the most beautiful/fit girl I think I've ever met in real life says, "I feel like I actually got a little bit of a work-out without really working out." I almost tripped her on purpose but my legs and arms were so sore they were shaking so I couldn't.
Afterwards we rewarded ourselves with some beer and burgers...but 2 of us just had burgers with avocados and no bun and no beer.
Overall...
1. A fab day.
2. It was super safe and affordable.
3. I can do anything I choose to do. You can too.
4. It helps to have super encouraging, awesome BAMFettes with you.
5. I aspire to be more workey outty in the future cause my friends work out WAY more than me...and I should join their fit club.

Ok, so we meet at Starbucks...4 Crossfit girls and me. We had a great drive up to Flag, chatting, laughing. It was so fun that I almost forgot why we were going up there but as we pulled in to Flagstaff Adventure Course I remembered, it was to try not to die. That was the reason we went.

| I know it doesn't look high up and this part wasn't...and the camera's died before it was really high but you'll just have to trust me. |
This was the entire course and they kept getting further apart and more wobbly and more technical as we got through the courses.

I'm finally in some much needed therapy.
Thank God Katie. We've been telling you for years.
Save your jokes, funny friends.
PHYSICAL therapy.
I learned 5 things while I was there. I didn't actually learn 5 things while I was there. I can currently think of 3 but I feel like 5 is a much better number of things to learn so I'll have to do some quick thinking as I type...
5. I sprained a part of my ankle that is virtually impossible to sprain.
What can I say? I've always been something of an overachiever. Umm, that's not what your high school GPA said. <---Sidenote: Do you think it's funny when I "talk for you" in italics or do you think I'm displaying some schizophrenic tendencies by having pretend conversations with noone?
4. Your tendons are the ends of your muscles..
They're like little tiny snakes coming off the end of your muscle. That's what the very smart, smart physical therapist taught me. If there are any actual doctors (or anyone who knows anatomy) reading this and knows I'm super wrong, I'm embarrassed. Until then, that's true. Tendons or the little legs at the end of your muscles.
3. ASTYM hurts so good!
It's this hard plastic tool and they dug into my skin (just on the surface, they didn't make me bleed or anything) to break up all of the scar tissue that has formed during my past1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ankle sprains that were not properly cared for.
Anyway, they dug and it HURT but it was a good hurt. Come on baaaaaaaby, make it hurt so good! <---- I love me some John Mellencamp. Ahh, memories of dancing in my living room with my mama. Ok, I'm leaving Memory Lane now. Back to our regularly scheduled program.
2. Picking up marbles with your toes is harder than it looks.
I also had to do this exercise where I scrunch up a towel over and over with my toes. Ouch! It was muy dificil.
Saving the best for last...
1. Crossfit is GOOD for my ankles.
Oh yes, you read that right.
Here's my conversation with my physical therapist as I was giving her my history.
"So, I've sprained my ankle several times. Actually both of them. Every morning I used to walk like I was 90 years old for the first 10 minutes of the day because my ankles were so tight and in pain. However, after I started Crossfitting the pain almost went away completely."
"Really? You know why? What you were doing is probably naturally breaking up that scar tissue and getting blood flowing to there. Keep Crossfitting. It's really good for you!"
So...what did my Doctor prescribe?
Crossfit
What did I learn?
Ongoing aliments shouldn't stop us. We have to move it or lose it (and when I refer to "it" I mean the function of our bodies). You may think I'm being dramatic but put the cookie down and move it Friends!
You'll thank me some day!
Wow, Katie, you're really on a high horse right now.
Yeah, I almost 1/2 way through my current Whole 30. I feel amaze balls. And I went back to CF480 for the first time indays weeks month. So, yes, I'm on my high horse and the view from up here is fabulous :)
Thank God Katie. We've been telling you for years.

| This is a great quote about Using it or Losing it. That's why I posted it...ish. |
Warning:
I'm in a bad mood. Do not read this blog if:
A. You're trying to be inspired to get to the gym.
B. You're trying to be inspired to eat great food.
C. You're trying to be inspired*.
*I just misspelled inspired 3 times in a row. Awesome.
But, read this blog if:
A. You're in a bad mood too. Misery loves company.
B. You can relate.
C. You have some kind and positive words for me.
Ok, if you're still here...onward.
You know what I hate? I hate sucking. I HATE sucking*. (I am yelling and pushing really hard on the keys when they're in all caps).
*I'm trying so hard to find a google image of something that depicts "I hate sucking." but...nothing appropriate is coming up. Get your mind out of the gutter Google!
I don't HAVE to be the best at everything but I hate sucking.
Let me walk you through a little story I like to call. W-T-F?
I go to Crossfit today and meet a new girl. She just started. I was excited for 2 reasons:
1. I like new peeps and she looked nice.
2. She was new so I knew I'd beat her.
Turns out, she just had a baby 6 weeks ago (and had a great body, b-t-dub (<----that's by the way). Perfect, I'll DEFINITELY beat you.
In September I will have been Crossfitting for a year. That's a long time to stick to a workout routine.
Our WOD...you know it was a bad/super hard day when I totally remember the WOD when I get home.
18 minutes AMRAP (As many rounds as possible)
10 Wall Balls
15 Burpees...100 Day Burpee Challengers, I DEF got my burpees in today :)
10 Pull-ups
200 Meter Run
We pick up our Wall Balls...3...2...1...Go!
I'll just give you the short version of me working out today. At 1 point our owner was standing near me clapping some sort of rhythm and I feel like he was saying this in his head, "Get. Your. Ass. Moving. Katie. They're. Just. Burpees. This. Is. Ridiculous." I sucked and then sucked some more and then sucked some more and Just Had a Baby Girl BEAT me! W-T-F?!?!?!
I'm so damn annoyed right now, I cried on the way home and I want to quit*. We always get new people and they're always better than me. I feel like I suck just as bad as when I started. I need to go back to doing something I'm good at...sitting on my couch.
*I'm not actually going to quit because I already drank the Kool-Aid but I am mad.
And...as if that wasn't bad enough, I have been to Sumits (Hot Yoga) 3 times and guess what...I suck there too! A blog for another day but the instructor actually came up to me in the middle of class with a very empathetic look in her eyes and said with a head tilt, "Are you new?"
And...I've been doing at LEAST 1 workout a day all week and I've been eating great and I GAINED 2 lbs.
Recap:
1. Sucking sucks
2. I'm in an asstastic (asstastic, 1 word) mood
And there you have it. Thank you for reading thisinspiring, uplifting, empowering, crabby rant.
I'm going to see Magic Mike...because I'm almost as good at sitting in big chairs while drinking and watching sexay men as I am at sitting on my couch.
Tune in next time for a much happier blog :)
I found this...and I will try and focus on this...

HOLY SH** THAT WAS HARD.
H-A-R-D.
It was 90 degrees when I got out of my car at the Thompson Peak trailhead.
I knew it was going to be a tough day. I knew Crossfit 480 wouldn't just move the WOD out of the box and to a hiking trail without a seriously tough agenda.
I thought of a million reasons not to go but I had committed myself to at least 3 days a week every week this summer and couldn't quit now.
BUT...I was still so scared. As in, flashbacks of when I first started CF480, scared. Being inside of CF480 gives me magical powers and allows me to do things I wouldn't normally be able to do, Super Katie, if you will. So, how were things going to be when I had to workout outside of there??
I was one of the first ones there and the guys said, "Oh, we just finished it. It wasn't that bad."
IMH: Are you effing kidding me? One of you is a Lulu Ambassador and just got back from Regionals and the other one eats Paleo like it's his job. So, no, that doesn't make me feel any better at all. Thank you.
Sidenote: It's BEAUTIFUL there and SO nice. I love nice places that are a little fancy with nice bathrooms. All of the above were there.
WOD-Partner

Trail Run (The same one...that's almost a mile...and they didn't mention the distance...again)
----------------------------------
Let me re-cap-We RAN almost 2 miles, lifted something metal and heavy a LOT of times and did the equivalent of a million sit-ups. Rad.
Negatives:
1. I almost died.
2. I was the reason we were last--dead last...and that's embarrassing to me.
3. My legs felt like they weren't getting any oxygen at all, really weak, like Jello--if anyone with a medical degree (or anyone who reads a lot of WedMd) can tell me more about this I'd be happy.
4. I saw the camera out and I really dislike not having the option to give my approval on pictures for the website, cause all of them that have me in them come out lame. **Boys, think like a good girlfriend would before posting pictures. If my friend looks stupid I won't post. It's the code.
Positives:
1. I had a great partner. Thanks for the encouragement!!
2. I did not die. --always a plus
3. I didn't sprain my ankle.
4. I busted my ass for over 30 minutes...GO KC!
PS. A friend told me that maybe I should start taking Barre Class the other day and I thought for a second about doing less days at CF and it almost gave me an anxiety attack.
Are you thinking this about me? Yeah. You know it.

Are you thinking this about me? Yeah. You know it.
Reasons I'm inspired to write at this very moment:
1. I've gained 4 lbs since I stopped my last Whole 30.
2. It took my 47 minutes to run 4.2 miles.
3. I only workout 3 days a week on a consistent basis.
4. I'm closer to the The Healthiest Version of Me than I have been in years but I want more progress.
For whatever reasons I have definitely been "On the wagon" for a while now. At least 80% of the time I eat right and exercise...but I can do more.
Here are my top 2 excuses:
1. I'm tired.
2. I'm busy.
There are 24 hours in a day. I can find time to add in 2 more days. I can do more. You can do more too. Let's do more.
No excuses.
My goal is to add 2 more consistent days of exercise. It doesn't necessarily have to be Crossfit (although if I just signed up for 2 more days that would take care of it right there).
Things I'm considering doing:
1. Walking around school during my lunch.
This reminds me of my old teachers who would bring their sneakers to school and walk in their long dresses and tennis shoes during their lunch breaks...hilar. That will be me but hopefully these will be the shoes on my feet.
2. Add a day of Crossfit
This makes motivation so easy. "Class is at 6 pm." So I go because if I don't people will ask me where I've been or, through the magic of Facebook and me constantly incriminating myself through there, they will already know.
3. Ride my bike
I love my bike. I love riding my bike. Cyclists, do you still ride in the summer? Early am? Where? I need ideas.
4. Swim
That doesn't say lay out. SWIM. Don my Speedo, get in, put my goggles on and swim laps. My dad is constantly trying to get me to wear a snorkel in the pool because my aunt, him, and my mom used to go to the pool with their snorkels and swim 2-3 miles a day. Um, way to go old people for swimming 3 miles a day, that's a shit-ton of laps (216 to be exact) but I'm not 80 and I'm going to go ahead and skip the snorkel. PS. You're on Tom's Team.
5. Yoga
Ohhhmmmmmmm. I'm on the look-out for a Bikram Groupon for this summer. Must stretch my body.
There are a million ways to get my body moving more than I do. I'm committing to this which is why I'm blogging about it. Both of you readers really hold me accountable. ;)
Tell me what you're committing to do this week. I'll help you stay accountable. You help me. Let's do this. No excuses.
In the meantime, I'm off to my happy place. Who needs motivation when all I have to do is follow directions? They'll kick my ass for me.

I haven't felt like I was dying in a while so I guess I was due.
TONIGHT'S WOD WAS SO, SO HARD.
30 Kettle Bells
15 Burpees
150 Jump Ropes
800 meter run
150 Jump Ropes
15 Burpees
30 Kettle Bells
"Wow. That looks hard," I thought but that was all.
Not total anxiety from reading the board.
I chose the 26 lb Kettle Bell rather than the RX of 35.
3...2...1...GO!
Kettle Bell. I like these. Lift with your hips. The Kettle Bell seemed a lot heavier today. I chalked it up to, "God's punishing me for going to the Board Meeting instead of Crossfit 480 on Tuesday." Sidenote: I have SERIOUS Catholic guilt issues. Everything bad that happens to me, I assume is God kickin my ass for something sucky I did. I blame my mother.
15 Burpees. Nobody likes Burpees. Nobody but I listened to Coach JB and really jumped back up to my hands to make "the movement more efficient." I now think he really was just trying to make us work harder.
150 Jump Ropes...I don't have a jump robe. I have to use the super lame jump rope because I haven't ordered one online yet. Sidenote: Coach JB made a good point..."You spend tons of money on gym clothes and shoes. You drop a shit ton of money to come to this gym. BUY A DAMN JUMP ROPE that fits you."
So there I am jumping with my Sped. jump rope and sucking more than usual. I think, "I'll just 25 at a time and take a few breaths." I have to adjust my thinking when I am sucking at just jumping 3 times at a time.
Run an 800. Fine. I actually looked forward to this but it still sucked.
For the rest of the workout my lungs were ON FIRE. Sidenote: When I Google Imaged for a picture of burning lungs, it showed the one below and SEVERAL pictures of Crossfitters. OUCH. Sidenote (Yes, another one. Deal with it.): If you're wondering what a Crossfit 480 is like and want to try it in the privacy of your own gym, this is a great one to do...minimal equipment necessary and no real way to get hurt.
Anyway, I'll spare you every detail but it was so freaking hard to finish.
I sucked.
I was 2nd to last to finish. To end on a positive note, I wasn't last. Look at me seeing that silver lining! The poor guy who just started was last. However, he went to the bathroom in the middle of the WOD. Ummm, what? That's an unwritten Crossfit rule. You MUST empty your bladder before the WOD not during. NEVER during.
I always think it's funny when people who read my blog and don't Crossfit say, "Wow. You're so hardcore. You do so well." If you only knew blog readers. If you only knew. I am hardcore, but I'm still way worse than all of the gangsters at my gym. So, I guess that just makes me mediumcore. <---Bah ha ha...I seriously crack myself up.
I finished and that's what counts. The fact that my lungs burned for a good 10 minutes after I was done is neither here nor there.

Yes that is the word I would use to describe my evening.
Come along with me on a little journey...
This morning I checked my Facebook (imagine that) and this is what Boomer's status update said:
In just over 16min, I ran a mile, did 50 push ups, 50 KB thrusts & 50 box jumps... Now back to my regularly scheduled staycay... — at CrossFit 480.

IMH: W-T...a MILE AND A WORKOUT? That's what I'm in for tonight? How many excuses can I think of not to go to Crossfit tonight?
1. I have to clean my car because it smells like garbage (true story)...because garbage (no, really actual garbage) spilled in my trunk when I was taking it to the trash car. PS. Don't judge me, it was heavy.
2. I have to make 10 million pancakes tonight (another true story).
3. I ran out of dog food and it took longer when I had to feed her canned Chicken Chili (yeah, that's true too...it's been a real winning day for me)
I couldn't convince myself not to go...partially because I pay to go there and didn't wanna throw my money away but mostly because all the people in my class will ask why I didn't go and when I tell them it was because I was scared they'll just look at me...and Justin will make fun of me.
BTW: That's actually an updated picture of me in that picture...what? You don't believe me?
So...my workout was the first part of the TORTURE tonight.
PS. I'm exaggerating a teeny bit. That WAS the workout but it wasn't that bad. It was sucktastic but a damn good workout.
2nd and WORST form of torture.
Before I start you should know that I ALWAYS overvolunteer myself and then regret it. With everything. All the time.
Staff Breakfast is tomorrow. My teammate volunteered to bring canned beans in a Crockpot, tortillas and coffee. That was smart.
I, on the other dumbass hand, volunteered to make a Pancake Bar with:
And all the fixins!
Reasons I'm a Jackass:
1. That's way too much work.
2. I'm on Day 10 of my 2nd Whole 30...I can't have pancakes or anything that remotely resembles a pancake.
3. I love pancakes and I can't eat ANY...ANY
That's all I got. Thank you for tuning to tonight's edition of 2 Ways to Torture Katie.
Today, I write, again, because:
A. I'm still on Spring Break and thought I'd put out as many posts as possible while I still have time.
B. My body is too sore to move anything other than my fingers.
C. I don't get the morning paper so with my coffee, I blog.
Nancy Negative Side:
I'm in an asstastic mood. LPIYH (Little people in YOUR heads): Oh joy, so glad you decided to share this bad mood with both of us.
The only reason I'm sharing this is because, perhaps, a few of you can relate. Maybe there is a teeny, tiny chance that some of you are here because you, too, feel asstastic about this same thing.
So there I was...
I was feeling good. I was feeling pretty. I was doing my morning walk around the internet and suddenly this picture kicked me in the face.
Sidenote: There has NEVER been a good picture of me that has come out of the Crossfit 480 owner's camera. That damn thing hates me.

So there I was...
- My clothes are fitting awesome.
- Lots of my pictures are looking good.
- People are making comments that I look better.
- My last workout was rad.

I don't look awesome.
I look disgust.
Ewww.
Yuck.
I thought I looked better.
This sucks.
I am ALWAYS sore and I STILL don't look the way I want.
I eat Paleo 90% of the time and I still don't look the way I want.
So, there you have it. On this lovely journey (said in the most sarcastic voice possible), I don't feel super every day.
Now, let's flip it because I'm not going to leave you putting out those Nancy Negative vibes.
Polly Positive Side:
- I don't look exactly like I want to look but I'm getting there.
- I'm closer than I was 6 months ago.
- I did 190 Wall Balls yesterday...and a shit-ton of other stuff
- No matter how long I do Crossfit, it's ALWAYS hard (as in lay on the floor and try not to die hard) and I NEVER quit.
And all of the things I wrote before:
- My clothes are fitting awesome.
- Lots of my pictures are looking good.
- People are making comments that I look better.
- My last workout was rad.
- I have tons of super great things going on in my life right now.
- I pulled out my entire summer wardrobe, a wardrobe that didn't fit last summer, and it ALL FITS!
So, maybe your struggle is:
Eating right
OR
Drinking
OR
Putting Effort into your Job
OR
Being a Good Mom
We're not "there" on our journey but we're all doing pretty damn good. Let's focus on that. You help me and I'll help you. ;)
I think I can get where I wanna go. Do you?
Just about 180 days ago I started this journey to change my body, mind and life 180 degrees. At the time I honestly didn't think I would change. I thought I might get a bit better in the gym but since I had always had a tough time shedding lbs in the past, I wouldn't change all that much.
I am convinced. I have all my stats below but more, than any of that I have so many people to thank. The gentlemen (Derek, Brian, Justin) for CF 480 have changed everything about me and I am forever in their debt (and those thank you cards are coming, promise ;) ). And anyone else who has helped me along this journey...which has been SO many people, thank you. Every compliment makes me want to push further and go harder. Every, "Come on Katie, let's go," has helped me finish that WOD a little harder and a little stronger than I thought I could have.
I've done things I absolutely never dreamed I could do. Crossfit 480 has changed my life. I wish I could just bring new members in droves because that's how strongly I believe in this. They say that Crossfit is a bit cult-like. I have to agree and I'm in. I'm so in that I just paid for a year up front. It was expensive...but worth every penny. I am officially hooked on eating clean and training dirty.
I say this and I will also say, I really don't think Crossfit is for everyone and I think you need to find what works for you. For some, it's Pilates. For some, it's cycling. For some, it's Bar class. Find what works for you and commit to it and push yourself.
So...just how has CF changed me?
Sidenote: I didn't post before/after pictures. I took them every week but there are just some things (very few ;) ) that I can't share on here. Perhaps, one day, I'll get really brave and post them...not today. However, a few people can attest to the fact that I look a bit different.

Weight
|
Big…effin fat…not a size I wanted to be. There’s only a handful of people who know the number and I will keep it that way.

Sprained at least 4 times with lots of torn ligaments so I walked like I was 88 until after my morning shower.

A joke. My stomach was huge and whatever I was doing certainly didn’t look like a burpee…perhaps like an army crawl.

My burpees actually look like burpees

I finished a 5K without walking. I run every run in a WOD and never walk. I’m signed up to run Pat’s Run (4.2) in April…Running is my biggest accomplishment!!!

“Katie, just do 3 rounds, not 5.”
“See if you can squat a big below parallel.”
“Good work Katie. You’re going to get even better.”
|
“I saw you walk 3 steps, don’t let it happen again.”
“Get back on it. Let’s go.”
“Go ahead and just do 3 rounds,” but he WASN’T TALKING TO ME!!! I have to finish every WOD, every time.
“By the way, you look amazing.”
“Lookin’ good.”

180 degrees different. I really didn’t think that I would be changing 180 degrees and I have. I just paid for a year of Crossfit because if anything interrupts my gym time I would be devastated. I am doing my 2nd Whole 30 (hoping to push it to a Whole 60) because I love how it makes me feel. Life is
